Au Manoir De Khai – A French in Saigon

Au Manoir De Khai belongs to the Khaisilk Corporation which owns several restaurants, a department store, clothing brands, a gym, a resort, and which works with interior design and real estate as well. It is, to put it mildly, a diversified corporation and its Au Manoir De Khai restaurant is recognized as one of the best French restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City.

Au Manoir De Khai reopened its doors in October 2010 after a renovation and displayed a new menu as well with still mainly French cuisine, but with touches from other countries as well. We have tried a lot on their extensive menu and we can recommend you to start with a soup of Périgord truffles consommé served with stuffed goose liver and vegetables or the Maine lobster ravioli with button mushroom and black diamond truffles soup.

There are many first courses to choose from, but we recommend the grilled duck leg salad served with piece of goose liver or the home made French goose liver with sauternes wine and served with Périgord truffles. Depending on if you are in for a fish or meat course as main, try the mixed grilled seafood with prawns, red garoupa, ocean tuna, salmon and lobster and if you rather prefer a meat dish go for the grilled Wagyu rib eye steak served with raw shallots and roasted potatoes. If you still have room for a dessert then, have the hot soufflé with Grand Marnier.

The carbon foot print will not be good after a dinner at Au Manoir De Khai with most of the ingredients imported from abroad, and the level of innovation is low with mostly safe bets and courses you have seen and had before, but the overall quality of the restaurant is generally good.

The renovation has resulted in a black and white orgy that is on the limit of being just too much and the more than one hundred years old villa the restaurant is situated in has lost a lot of its old charm, but a refinement was needed after the restaurant’s 15 years of history.

The French influences are everywhere in Vietnam and Au Manoir De Khai gives you one of the best French dining experiences in Ho Chi Minh City. You will have a restaurant bill of several millions after your dinner, but fortunately it is in Dong that has suffered badly from hyper inflation.

Au Manoir De Khai scored 59 points  of 100 points in our rating system.
