Esperanto – sophisticated dining
Esperanto is situated in Östermalm, the most elegant district in Stockholm. It is situated in a beautiful green building on the floor above a sushi restaurant called Råkultur and an elegant izakaya called Shibumi. Sayan Isaksson is the Executive Chef behind all three restaurants. All three places are great restaurants, but it is Esperanto which is the place to go for fine dining.
The dining at Esperanto is a sophisticated and intelligent dining that some people if unprepared can feel is a bit pretentious. So be prepared before to immerse yourself in a dining experience where you will discover new creative and flavourful combinations. You can choose either between a six or a ten course menu. We recommend the larger tasting menu for having as much as possible of the rather unique cuisine that is changed regularly and can be everything from sliced beef with miso cream, to frozen oyster and duck liver terrine served with truffle tea. To match both menus Head Sommelier Sören Polonius has created an interesting matching drinks menu. And do not forget to try out Esperanto’s selection of high quality teas during your evening.
The restaurant has existed since 2005 and gastronomically Esperanto’s tongue is universal, but the focus is a mix of Japanese flavours, European cooking with a lot of Nordic ingredients. The meal is very visual in its presentation and there is a lot of small detailed work and thinking behind each plate. It is fitting that the restaurant is in a former theatre, the whole meal is a performance in itself.
The menus you can choose from are expensive as is a lot of fine-dining in Stockholm, but it is worth it if you are in for an evening of sophisticated intelligent pleasure.
