Hotel Adlon Kempinski – a legend
The luxury Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin is located on Unter den Linden, the main boulevard in the central Mitte district. The hotel is a city landmark at the corner with Pariser Platz, directly opposite the Brandenburg Gate and the Memorial to the murdered Jews of Europe. Primary sights like the Reichstag, Potsdamer Platz and Checkpoint Charlie are all a short stroll away.
The Hotel Adlon owes its name to its original owner, Lorenz Adlon, who invested twenty million gold marks and two years into the creation of the hotel, which first opened on 23 October 1907. After burning down in World War II, the new Adlon has quickly reclaimed its reputation as Berlin’s most illustrious hotel since its reopening in 1997. The hotel has hosted an array of royals and luminaries throughout its rich history, including Michael Jackson, Albert Einstein and Her Majesty the Queen of England.
Rebuilt from the original designs of the previous Hotel Adlon, the classic building reflects the grandeur of the ‘Unter den Linden’ boulevard perfectly, where it proudly stands right next to one of Germany’s most historic landmarks - the Brandenburg Gate.
The hotel houses 304 rooms and 78 suites, some of them overlook the ‘Unter den Linden’ boulevard and the Brandenburg Gate. All rooms have at least thirty-five sqm of floor space. The forty suites feature living and working areas and a kitchenette for long-stay guests. All hotel floors and door borders are made of valuable limestone, while the walls and doors have tasteful mahogany and cherry furnishings. A heavy focus has been placed on the bathrooms; with black granite, pale marble and noble wooden furnishings, they boast vanities, a bathtub and an integrated multifunctional dressing table. The Adlon hotel has three Presidential suites, the “Royal Suite”, the “Imperial Suite” and the “Brandenburger Tor Suite". All three suites feature five rooms, are individually furnished and offer elaborate security features.
Since its opening in 1907, fine dining has always been a key element in the Adlon’s tradition of gracious hospitality. Under the motto “tradition eats modern” the Lorenz Adlon two star gourmet restaurant from Hendrik Otto presents a perfect mélange of traditional and modern influences. Restaurant Quarré serves Berlin classics and local specialties. The Sra Bua restaurant combines the diversity of Asian cuisine with the distinct culinary inspiration of top chef Tim Raue. The best place to enjoy the unique flair of this truly iconic hotel is set in the heart of the hotel: the Lobby Bar. Additionally, the elephant fountain, a symbol of Hotel Adlon Kempinski, is located here. Guests enjoy the gentle sound of piano music, a piece of cake freshly baked in the in-house patisserie or the famous Afternoon Tea. Guests can also try the famous signature dish “Adlon-Currywurst” in the lobby.
In addition the hotel features two bars, 15 meeting and event rooms plus the grand ballroom and the Adlon Palais and a fitness centre with an indoor pool and an exquisite Adlon Spa by Resense. The “Ladies in Red”, a brand signature from the Kempinski group, operate in addition to the concierges and are there for all extended guest relations. Their aim is to give the guests upscale service throughout their stay.
Hotel Adlon Kempinski is an icon in Berlin and an experience in itself.
