Ming Court – a perfect mix
Executive Chef Tsang Chiu King continues to improve his Cantonese Chinese cuisine with the absolute best from both traditional China and contemporary inspirations from far outside China as well. Ming Court is the perfect mix between old and new.
You will find Ming Court on the sixth floor inside one of the luxury hotels at Kowloon - Langham Place Mong Kok, Hong Kong. The hotel is located in the heart of the boiling Mong Kok with shopping opportunities until you drop. It is perfect to end some hours spent in the super busy district with an impeccable meal at Ming Court.
Executive Chef- East Tsang Chiu King has been the head of Ming Court since its opening in 2004. He has been cooking since 1976. His skills have been refined for many years and today he is a master when it comes to the Cantonese Chinese cuisine. He has found a perfect balance between the traditional dishes and completely new contemporary innovations with some European touches as well. The Chef is not afraid of experimenting and discover new ways of how to improve the cuisine and prepare it for today’s guests with different references compared to old times. His fried chicken is a good example of how the talented Chef has found a healthier take on a traditional dish. None of the flavours lacks, no, it tastes better and the end result of the Chef’s cooking is impressive. There are several great chefs when it comes to cooking with the Wok Chan which is a big frying spatula, but few are as good as Tsang Chiu King. His high level of consistency, just delivering dish after dish of top quality proves both his skills as well as his talent for the Chinese cooking.
The first impression of Ming Court can be a bit overwhelming with its fairly big main dining room of 90 seats and an additional 240 seats in the private dining rooms. The interior is of a modern touch with a big display of replica Ming Dynasty pottery and landscape ink paintings by contemporary Chinese artists. The menu will remind you of a novel with many pages, but luckily the Chef’s recommendations and signature dishes are marked. The Chinese like to eat in big groups and most often take the whole family of different generations to the table so many dishes are ordered at once and as a westerner you should do the same. Simply order in a bunch of dishes and you will not be disappointed. The Sommelier, or The Wine Guy as the restaurant prefers to call him, Zachary Yu, will guide you through your decisions and suggest perfect wine pairings or any other beverages like the amazing tea selections. You will find the Ming Cellar just next to the main restaurant and it contains many great wines for all of Chef Tsang Chiu King’s contemporary Cantonese Chinese cuisine.
Ming Court is an impeccable restaurant with topnotch cuisine offering both innovative thinking as well as keeping the best of the traditional flavours. All packed in an appealing environment and perfect service.
