Restaurant Bareiss – gourmet heaven
After driving on winding roads you will end up in the heart of the Black Forest and in Baiersbronn, which has become famous as a gourmet destination. Widowed Hermine Bareiss takes over the Auberge Kranz in Mitteltal after the Second World War and what was originally just a café and an inn became in the 1950’s a hotel operation. Hermine’s son, Hermann, took over the business in 1973 and the property changed its name from Kurhotel Mitteltal to Hotel Bareiss in 1991. Today, Hermann and his son Hannes run it together with their family.
Head Chef Claus-Peter Lumpp was born in 1964 and started with an apprenticeship at Kurhotel Mitteltal. He worked at various other restaurants before he returned to Kurhotel Mitteltal, but he had to work additionally for several well-known chefs like Alain Ducasse and Johann Lafer before he could return again to what had been renamed Hotel Bareiss in 1992, as the Head Chef. Claus-Peter Lumpp’s dedication was second to none and he was completely convinced of making his restaurant one of the best. He has succeeded beyond any gourmet’s dream and it is obvious that Lumpp has moved his passion into a way of life where he is committed to give his guests the utmost culinary experience every day.
Claus-Peter Lumpp’s cooking is traditional haute cuisine and you can expect a flawless experience from the first second you enter the luxurious small dining room until the last second when you say farewell. The dining room is managed by Restaurant Manager Thomas Brandt and you can expect nothing less than the best from him and his team. The waiters are dressed in traditional dirndl clothing so you have a perfect Black Forest framing in contrast to the ultra lavish dining room which could have appeared in any top restaurant elsewhere. Head Sommelier Jürgen Fendt is one of Germany’s foremost sommeliers and will satisfy your need no matter how complex or demanding it might be. His pairings are excellent so let him choose for you and you will be in safe hands.
