Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa
Maldives
Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa is a luxurious 5-star all-inclusive resort in the Maldives. A proud member of The Leading Hotels of the World, Emerald is designed for both couples seeking a romantic escape and families looking for a high-end, worry-free experience. Set on the private island of Fasmendhoo in the Raa Atoll, Emerald Maldives features 120 spacious villas, both on the beach and over the water. Four restaurants and a wealth of activities are all included in its signature Deluxe All-Inclusive package.
Location & Resort
Nestled on Fasmendhoo Island in the Raa Atoll, Emerald Maldives is surrounded by 1.5 kilometres of white sandy beaches and a 100-hectare lagoon. The island itself spans 20 hectares, covered in lush tropical vegetation and bordered by pristine shores. On the sunrise side, a steep drop-off close to the shore creates a favourable snorkelling area, where marine life can be observed without needing to venture far. The sunset side features a shallow beach and a calm lagoon, providing a more gradual entry into the water and an ideal setting for swimming. The island is accessible via a 40-minute seaplane journey from Malé or a 30-minute domestic flight to Ifuru Domestic Airport, followed by a 15-minute speedboat transfer.
Emerald Maldives Resort & Spa combines contemporary design with traditional Maldivian elements. The resort follows a barefoot luxury concept, offering a balance of spaciousness and privacy. Natural materials such as bamboo, Langhi Langhi leaves, and sustainably sourced wood are used throughout the resort’s structures, ensuring an eco-friendly aesthetic. Emerald features 120 villas spread across both the beach and over the water.
The resort’s architecture is designed to blend with its surroundings, integrating tropical elements with modern construction. The use of natural materials, along with an emphasis on energy efficiency and environmental preservation, reinforces its commitment to sustainability. The combination of tropical landscapes and contemporary design creates a setting that is both playful and accessible.
Villas
Emerald Maldives is set on a private 20-hectare island, surrounded by 1.5 kilometers of soft white sand. The resort features 120 villas, evenly divided between beachfront and overwater locations, with many offering private pools. Designed to blend with the natural surroundings, the villas incorporate contemporary tropical architecture, combining wood, stone, and thatched elements to create a relaxed atmosphere.
Each villa boasts a spacious layout with modern amenities, including king-size beds, both indoor and open-air “under the stars” showers, and large marble-floored bathrooms with expansive freestanding bathtubs. The design is vibrant and playful, incorporating modern décor inspired by marine life. While the higher-tier suites offer more space and extra amenities, the core design elements, including furnishings and artwork, remain uniform throughout the resort.
Rates of the villas start at € 700 per night and they are categorized as follows:

We stayed in a Water Villa with Pool, one of several lining the jetty and facing inward toward the island. For the most privacy and minimal noise from the island, the villas at the far end of the jetty are the best option. Each villa features a private infinity pool overlooking the lagoon, providing a refreshing space to cool off.
Direct access to the ocean is available via a ladder from the deck, and an overwater hammock offers a relaxing spot to lounge above the gentle waves. The outdoor area is spacious and well-appointed, including a shaded dining setup, sun loungers, and an open-air shower. Thoughtful touches, such as a comfortable daybed and a hammock, enhance the sense of relaxation.
Inside, the huge bathroom with free-standing bath offers wonderful ocean views. The combination of modern comforts and direct access to the lagoon makes the Water Villas with Pool a well-balanced option for both privacy and convenience.

- Le Asiatique Restaurant: Le Asiatique offers a selection of Asian dishes with a menu that focusses on the flavours of Japanese and Chinese cuisines.
- Sunset Pool Café: Positioned in one of the most picturesque spots on the island, this café is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail while watching the sunset. The atmosphere is enhanced by live music, a relaxed social setting, and even a billiards table set on the white sand.
- Sunrise Café: This café located next to Aqua Restaurant provides a peaceful setting to take in the Maldivian sunrise while enjoying a morning coffee or tea by the crystal-clear lagoon. It’s open all-day and is a nice spot for a cocktail after snorkelling, too.
The all-inclusive plan at Emerald Maldives extends beyond dining to a selection of beverages. With over 80 wine options included, the resort offers an impressive variety, making it a highlight for wine enthusiasts. Sommeliers are available on-site to guide guests in selecting a bottle to suit their preferences. In addition to the extensive wine list, the resort features a diverse cocktail and spirits menu across its restaurants and bars. While the in-villa minibar is also included in the package, its selection is somewhat limited. However, the abundance of beverages available throughout the property more than compensates.
