latour - grandeur at the dutch coast
Restaurant Latour is the gastronomic restaurant of the 5 star Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, located in Noordwijk aan Zee in The Netherlands. Noordwijk aan Zee is a small town located 45 kilometres from Amsterdam and is a popular seaside resort in The Netherlands. The Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin is an icon of luxurious hospitality in The Netherlands and known for the many celebrities who love to stay here. The hotel features 3 restaurants, all focussing on quality gastronomy, where Latour is the culinary flagship. For more information about this hotel, please consult our hotel section.
Guests of restaurant Latour enter the dining room through the impressive lobby of the hotel. The restaurant is located on the first floor and offers a frontal view on the North Sea. The interior is in line with the rest of the hotel: classic, luxurious, and very comfortable. Brown, blue and golden colours give the ensemble a cosy atmosphere and artworks from George van Herwaarde provide the colours on the walls. The tables are covered with white linen and most of them offer beautiful views on the beach and the sea. Restaurant Latour seats 40 up to 45 diners and is only open for dinner (or lunch on request). The restaurant can also be rented for a maximum of 80 people.
Executive Chef Marcel van Lier is responsible for Latour’s kitchen. The chef started working at the restaurant in the year 2000 and quickly gained recognition from the culinary guides with his classic French cooking style, combined with oriental twists. The Chef loves to incorporate creamy textures and dares to combine unusual ingredients while maintaining respect for his main products. Marcel gained inspiration through his travels throughout the world and demonstrates this in his dishes today. One of his signature dishes is the preparation with veal. The veal is prepared in three ways: sweetbreads, kidneys and filet. It comes with a cream of coffee and a sauce of pepper, mustard and coffee and is finished with kohlrabi and mushrooms. As an appetiser, the chef serves burnt onion, crunchy onions and barbecue mayonnaise, with watermelon and ice of piccalilli (the latest also is a signature of the Chef).
Restaurant Manager and Sommelier Stan Kerckhoffs started working at Latour in 2003 and is one of the 41 ‘master hosts’, a recognition for the best hosts in The Netherlands. Stan knows exactly how to spoil the guests and has a great knowledge of wines and hospitality in general. He uses a lot of fresh, exotic, floral and mineral wines (from Austria or Germany) to pair the dishes of the Chef. The wine cellar has a lot of beautiful references, including exceptional wines of Domaine Château Latour, in Pauillac Bordeaux, which also get a special place on the wine menu.
Restaurant Latour is one of the most established restaurants at the Dutch coast. Chef Marcel van Lier and his team offer the guests an interesting take on the French cuisine, combining beautiful products from the sea with oriental influences. The setting is luxurious and classic, appealing to a wide audience who love quality products, comfort and tradition.
