Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant
Hong Kong, China
Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant quickly gained a reputation amongst the foodies of Hong Kong to offer some of the best traditional Cantonese cuisine available anywhere in the world. More and more food lovers arrived to the discreet and low profile restaurant and the word started to spread. The original location was at Wanchai, but the restaurant was moved to the harbour in Tsim Sha Tsui’s iSquare mall late in 2009.
Once you finally get up to floor 29 you will notice the breathtaking 180 degrees view of the harbour and Hong Kong Island. The view is best from the corner private dining rooms, but you will enjoy plenty of Hong Kong scenery from almost anywhere from the well-spaced tables in the main dining room as well. The style of the restaurant is traditional and lavish, with attentive, courteous and well-informed service that will make you feel like a very important person, indeed.
Director & Founder Eric Chan’s father runs a business within the textile industry, but that was never Eric’s cup of tea. Instead, Eric gained advantage of his father’s friendship with gastronomic Cantonese cuisine master Yeung Koon Yat who inspired and influenced him to open his own restaurant. Eric Chan has certainly moved from being someone unknown to someone highly recognised on Hong Kong’s culinary scene and today he runs two restaurants on the same floor at the iSquare – more casual Italian cuisine Sorriso, and fine dining Cantonese cuisine Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant.
Executive Chef Leung Sui Ming has more than 30 years of experience of Chinese cooking. Make sure to order in some baked stuffed crab, steamed braised sea cucumber filled with minced pork wrapped in lotus leaf, and some delicious stewed oxtail with home-made sauce and red wine in casserole. Of course, there are many other dishes to order in as well, so experiment and let your creativity flow when you make your order. Ah Yat Harbour View Restaurant is the place to be if you would like to enjoy some of the best traditional Cantonese cuisine available.
