The beauty of this restaurant and hotel is breathtaking. Drive in to the heart of Provence and you will eventually end up at the picturesque village of Bonnieux. You will find La Bastide de Capelongue just next to the village overlooking it and the Luberon Mountains. The location of the restaurant is extraordinary and when you enjoy the sunset for the first time you will be just as convinced as we are – that this is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Oh, did we forget to mention that one of the most talented chefs in the world runs the place?
Chef Patron Édouard Loubet is one of those few culinary talents around the world who actually got the complete package, all genuine and with 100 percent integrity. He is not afraid of doing his own thing and he will take care of you as if you were his personal friend. His and his team’s hospitality goes beyond what most of you ever will experience anywhere else. You should not be surprised if the chef himself takes one of your orders. He will by all means have a chat with you. The main dining room is not tiny, so it is impressive how the team at La Bastide de Capelongue manages to offer you a service out of this world at the same time as they deliver dish after dish of absolute top quality.
Édouard Loubet was born in 1970 in French Val Thorens surrounded by mountains and snow so it was natural for him to enjoy mountain sports. Loubet’s ambition and dedication was soon noticed when he joined the France Espoir de Ski Alpin team. However, the talented skier had another passion in life as well. The Chef’s mother, Claude Loubet, is a skilled cook and runs a family business thanks to it. Édouard’s mother trained him to become a true chef and his family taught him how to run restaurants and hotels. In 1992, Édouard Loubet and his mother bought and renovated a restaurant called Le Moulin de Lourmarin. The restaurant is located in Provence and it was here the young Chef understood and learnt the importance of organic top produced herbs, flowers and vegetables. He had his own organic garden already by then and today he has four acres just next to his restaurant supplying his guests with around 50 percent of all herbs. There are few other chefs in the world with the same sense and impeccable understanding of how to use the herbs for perfect balance and flavours which is a must try.
One of Loubet’s secrets is his amazing use of herbs, but he is also unafraid of being inspired by other cultures than just the French. His many travels and working experiences around the world have shaped him into a true culinary globetrotter. The warm-hearted Chef has brought his many life experiences into his kitchen and created something you have not tried anywhere else. Of course the cuisine is delicious, but this restaurant offers you so much more than just a very pleasant meal.
La Bastide de Capelongue is far more than just one of the best in beautiful Provence. Édouard Loubet and his family will show you the next level of hospitality combined with food to always dream about.
