Restaurant
La Vie
Osnabrück, Germany
Restaurant La Vie is located in the historical centre of Osnabrück, near the city’s town hall and opposite the market square. You will discover the restaurant in a beautiful, imposing eighteenth century old building known as ‘Haus Tenge’. Its classical style makes it a perfect setting for a restaurant of La Vie’s level. The whole exudes class and grandeur and those elements will remain key during your meal.
The interior of restaurant La Vie combines classical elements with modern art. The well-spaced main dining room seats around 30 covers on the ground floor. The tables are very spacious and comfortable. On the first floor, there are different private dining rooms for private appointments and bigger groups. A classy smoker’s lounge is also available.
Chef Patron Thomas Bühner was born in the Tecklenburger Land region in Germany and he worked with Jörg Müller at Sylt, Harald Wohlfahrt at Schwarzwaldstube in the Black Forest, and at Restaurant La Table in Dortmund. Everything has gone straight up to culinary stardom since he took over the business at La Vie in 2006, and the restaurant became a culinary landmark in Niedersachsen Germany.
Bühner’s cuisine retains some elements from the French haute cuisine, but, in true German fashion, it features a lot of attention to the small details on each plate. Punctuality and a well-thought structure are important here! Dish after dish will arrive at your table with an impeccable attention to details and the technical execution is flawless. You will discover some surprising combinations in his creations, like the preparation with scallops, mandarin and lemon thyme, or the octopus with a wild-boar emulsion, kimchi and Brussels sprouts. One of our favourite dishes is the cured crayfish dish, which is combined with Bellota ham, egg yolk marinated with soya, and finished with black Périgord truffle. It is a dish with great balance and equally great intensity. La Vie offers two different menus. The first one, menu ‘Tradition & Qualité’, offers classical and signature dishes from La Vie. The menu ‘Le Grand Chef’ is a tasting menu where innovation and avant-garde cuisine are key.
Restaurant La Vie is always looking for innovation and new creations. The creative chef Hawan Jung creates new dishes that are ideal for the international style of La Vie. His dishes are an outstanding mix of excellent, intensely flavoured products and a perfect fusion of Asian and European cuisine. In the kitchen, Chef Patron Thomas Bühner is also assisted by Head chef Timo Fritsche to lead La Vie’s kitchen. Today ex-sous chef Tobias Pietzsch is responsible for the new second restaurant, which opened next doors. La Vie ‘Tastykitchen’ started as a pop up but is now constantly open for dinner.
It should come as no surprise that La Vie has an extensive wine collection. Of course, a lot of them are amazing Riesling wines, but you will find great wines from all over the world as well. The sommeliers will make sure you have the best wine pairings with your meal. The main part of the wine collection is stored at the top floor in a six hundred years old roof vault.
La Vie is a restaurant that is a destination in itself and easily worth the detour. German punctuality, luxurious ingredients, great wines and a highly skilled team are blended into one of the best dining experiences of the region. Schmackhaft!
