Restaurant guests enter through the impressive lobby of the Adlon Kempinski and discover the restaurant on the first floor.
The interior of the restaurant is in line with the rest of the hotel: prestigious, traditional German and luxurious. The spacious tables are covered with white tablecloths and elegant decoration and tableware. One of the dining rooms is decorated as a beautiful library, the other features traditional works of art. Grey, brown and dark colours give the ensemble a very warm atmosphere. Most tables offer stunning views on one of Berlin’s most famous landmarks, the Brandenburger Gate. The restaurant boasts 30 seats and is only open for dinner.
Head Chef Hendrik Otto is in charge of the kitchen. Hendrik started working at the restaurant in 2010 and quickly gained recognition from the German and international gastronomy world. The chef brings an international haute cuisine where he reinterprets famous classics and creates his own culinary works of art. He defines his kitchen as European inspired, exciting, and expressive. Hendrik surprises his guests with several side dishes and creative presentations. The main products are served with respect and form the stars in the plate. One of his dishes, his interpretation from the famous ‘Bouillabaisse’, is stunningly delicious. Lobster, langoustine and squid are drenched in a heavenly broth and completed by fennel, aniseed and honey tomatoes. One of his signature dishes is the Shashlik “Brother in law style”: the Shashlik is grilled in front of the guests and served with bowl of “Bamberger Hörnchen” potatoes, topped with frozen goats curd, linseed oil and a five herbs mixture.
Restaurant Manager Boris Häbel welcomes the guests and directs the service at Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer. Professionalism, friendliness and discretion are keywords in his approach towards the service. He makes the guests feel at home and ensures that all have an evening they will not easy forget. The team at Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer consists out of 18 people: eight in the service and ten in the kitchen.
Wines are carefully chosen and presented by Iranian sommelier Shahab Jalali. The dynamic sommelier started working at the restaurant in 2011 and perfectly complements Head Chef Hendrik and Restaurant Manager Boris Häbel. He chooses his wines carefully, taking into consideration all elements of the chef in his kitchen. Shahab likes to work with wines from the surrounding regions but does not limit his choices to German wines. The wine pairing arrangement is a big added value to the menus and he even incorporates some of the wines into the (side) dishes. Shahab also knows how to please discerning visitors with some very exclusive wines on the wine list.
Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer is one of Berlin’s culinary hotspots and it is easy to understand why. Traditional luxury and a stunning location are combined with delicious dishes, a remarkable wine pairing and a great service. A great gastronomical experience in one of Germany’s most remarkable cities.
