Mandarin Grill + Bar
Hong Kong, China
The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong hotel has been an essential destination almost since the property first opened its doors back in 1963. The Mandarin Grill + Bar has been around for almost as long, but the concept and style of the restaurant has changed since its reopening in October 2006. Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky has changed the traditional idea of the restaurant into something you will never come to expect from an ordinary grill and bar.
Uwe Opocensky has turned what once was a traditional grill into a progressive cuisine restaurant matching any fine dining scene around the world. Look elsewhere, if you just like to have a steak on your plate with some fries, but make sure to make a reservation here if you would like to experience the next level of what you can have at a place with “Grill” in its name.
Executive Chef Uwe Opocensky joined The Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong in 2007. It did not take long for everyone to notice that this Chef was about much more than the ordinary. Today, Opocensky is in charge of the whole hotel’s ten restaurants and bars, but you will most likely find him in the open kitchen part of Mandarin Grill + Bar and that is exactly where you like to have him because he is a natural born talent and one of the best chefs to be found. With Opocensky in the kitchen you can rest assured that you are in for a memorable experience. Of course, he has a great team backing him up no matter what, but it is still the mind and creativity of Chef Opocensky that will give you something extraordinary. Uwe gained valuable training for six months at legendary El Bulli in Spain by Ferran Adrià so his progressive approach towards his cuisine is no big surprise that considered. Opocensky’s career is truly international, where he has held positions everywhere from Cyprus to the United Kingdom.
Mandarin Grill + Bar is an essential reservation for everyone looking for something out of the ordinary, but still in a warm and comfortable setting without any theatrical nonsense and without never failing in giving you a true experience to cherish and embrace.
