Restaurant
Patina
Los Angeles, United States
Los Angeles has never been recognised as a top foodie destination, but there are several restaurants which are far from mediocre. Patina is an excellent example of how fantastic a restaurant in Los Angeles actually can be.
Chef & Founder of the Patina Restaurant Group, the German born Joachim Splichal, has contributed a lot to securing Los Angeles as a restaurant city to reckon with. Splichal opened the original Patina at Melrose Avenue back in 1989. The restaurant became a success which eventually was developed into the Patina Restaurant Group. The flagship restaurant of the group has always been Patina, which was moved to its present location in downtown Los Angeles at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in 2003.
Joachim Splichal is no longer the Chef of Patina. Splichal appointed Tony Esnault as the Executive Chef of Patina in 2009, but he has left as well.
Patina is located in an amazing building at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and on top of it you will find the Blue Ribbon Garden which is public, for everyone to enjoy. All over the garden you will find organic herbs and edible flowers which are used in the cuisine at Patina. It is impressive how the team manage to keep such a high quality of herbs and flowers grown on a rooftop in the middle of Los Angeles.
The contemporary French cuisine is delicious and should be mandatory for all food lovers in Los Angeles. The Chef’s impeccable sense of perfectly balanced flavors together with absolute top service and brilliant wine pairings make Patina one of the most essential reservations in the City of the Angels.
