Ma Langue Sourit – smile
Luxembourg is known for its advanced economy and the fact that it has the world’s second gross domestic product per capita, only proceeded by Qatar. With money flowing in and out of the country at a steady rate, one would expect that the tiny country would be crammed with high end restaurants and luxury hotels. However, reality can be hard and teaches us that interesting and notable restaurants are not that easy to find in ‘The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg’. Ma Langue Sourit (‘my smiling tongue’) is one of the best options and offers a remarkable cuisine near the capital of Luxembourg.
Ma Langue Sourit is the gourmet restaurant from Chef Patron Cyril Molard and is located in a tranquil area near the small village of Moutfort. The restaurant is housed in a typical building of the region and has a terrace at the back of the building for the warmer days. Once inside the building, guests are welcomed by a warm atmosphere, lots of wood and colourful artworks. These eclectic works of art are especially created for Ma Langue Sourit by artist Stéphane Thoma. They are replaced regularly and are also for sale. The tables are covered with brown and white tablecloths and orange chairs add extra colour to the interior.
Chef Patron Cyril Molard hails from the small town of Cornimont, near La Bresse in France. He learned the trade of butcher from his father and continued his gastronomic journey working with professional Chefs like Guy Krenzer in Paris and Chef Emmanuel Renaut in London. Cyril is passionate about cooking and with his restaurant he wants to make his guests’ ‘tongues smile’ (hence the name Ma Langue Sourit). The Chef, his Sous-Chef Jean-Michel Bardet and the kitchen team prepare recognisable, understandable and tasty dishes where the main product is emphasised and complemented with more exotic fruits and vegetables. Some examples are the ‘Breton blue lobster with avocado, grapefruit and a lobster sauce’, or the ‘Marinated John Dory with kumquat and a sorbet of kalamansi’. The products and ingredients have to be top quality and the chef tries to select a lot of bio products from local producers. Guests have the choice between several dishes à la carte or a seasonal menu, offered at a very interesting price-quality ratio.
Lady of the house Anne-Sophie Molard welcomes the guests and together with Maître Alexandre Gerard she ensures a friendly and qualitative service. Sommelier Mathieu Manlay is responsible for the wines and has a penchant for wines from Luxembourg and France. Make sure you try one of his recommendations of excellent Luxembourgian wines!
Ma Langue Sourit is one of the restaurants that puts Luxembourg on the gastronomical map and offers a nice dining experience at a fair price. The cosy interior and the friendly team are a plus and make it worth to visit this cosy restaurant in the heart of Luxembourg.
