Do we really need to rate the restaurants and hotels? Oh, yes. There are zillions of restaurants and hotels out there and just a handful that are truly great. Here at wbpstars.com we focus only on fine dining and luxury hotels. So what is a fine dining restaurant or a luxury hotel you might ask? Our definition is: a full service restaurant or hotel, dedicated to service that treats you to a captivating experience, making you want to come back. We believe fine dining and luxury hotels are a passionate lifestyle.
Restaurants
The score descriptions are based upon seven different criteria with a maximum score of 10 in each except for the taste/stay criteria where it is 40:
- Taste — 40 points
How does it taste, flavours, texture, quality of the ingredients? - Innovation — 10 points
How innovative are the dishes? - Unique — 10 points
How unique is the food or have we seen it many times before? - Plate — 10 points
How beautiful, interesting and creative are the dishes presented on the plate? - Service — 10 points
How great is the service? - Value for money — 10 points
How good is the overall impression compared to the price? - Sustainability — 10 points
How sustainable is the sourcing and use of food, wine, facilities, environmental impact and engagement with society.
Hotels
The score descriptions are based upon eight different criteria with a maximum score of 10 in each except for the stay & service criteria, where it is 20:
- Stay — 20 points
How was the overall experience of the stay? - Service — 20 points
How great is the service, 24 hours, guest attention, level of positive surprise? - Luxury & exclusiveness — 10 points
How luxurious and exclusive is the hotel, the rooms, the restaurant…? - Design & architecture — 10 points
How exclusive, cool, extravagant, clean, etcetera is it as a whole? - Room & cleanliness — 10 points
How is the style and size of the rooms, are they clean? - Innovation — 10 points
How innovative and unique is the hotel, have you seen something like this before? - Value for money — 10 points
How good is the overall impression compared to the price? - Facilities — 10 points
Which facilities does the hotel feature, such as a pool, spa, bar, restaurant…?
We cover the whole world. Each restaurant and hotel is compared and reviewed against other restaurants and hotels on the planet and not just the local competition in each specific region. Our inspectors dine and stay anonymously and make multiple visits per reviewed restaurant and hotel before the results are published. In addition,our highly experienced editorial team who visit the restaurant or hotel for the content is a part of the final score as well. And last but not least we are in contact with as many guests as possible – asking them on their opinion of the restaurant and hotel being reviewed.
