La Luna Restaurant is nestled high on top of the clubhouse of the Gaia Hotel & Reserve which is located on a hill. The boutique hotel is situated within perfect distance from Costa Rica’s Manuel Antonio National Park and the Pacific Ocean. You have a rainforest filled with amazing wildlife and maritime reserves just next door so you will come to the ideal location for everyone seeking the perfect combination of excursions and beach life.
Gaia Hotel & Reserve is owned by three longtime friends who own one third each of the property. Boris Marchegiani has an origin from Venezuela & Italy and is the President. His two friends Thomas Joseph Farrell, with a background as a Broadway producer, and David Fleming, with a background from Sony, are the Vice Presidents. Together they have created an inviting hotel with a perfect location and one of the best restaurants in the area – La Luna. You can choose Costa Rican cuisine in addition to the international and the low carbohydrate so plenty of options. Most of the restaurant’s guests come from the United States which you can see well reflected on the menu and the dishes are like twice the size of what you have in Europe so a lot of flirting with the North American clientele.
The majority of the guests are not keen on paying for any exclusive old world wines even if the restaurant has it, but you have a great range of wines from Chile and Argentina to accompany any dish, like the ginger and panko crusted tuna or the tequila-lime scallops and shrimps. The whole hotel is doing all the right things for sustainability including offering purified water instead of bottled so you will have your meal with a good conscience.
La Luna should get rid of the American meat dishes from the menu and focus even harder on the delicious tropical cuisine. There is something for everyone offered on the extensive menus, but make sure to stick to the seafood to avoid any disappointments.
