Do we really need to rate the restaurants and hotels? Oh, yes. There are zillions of restaurants and hotels out there and just a handful that are truly great. Here at wbpstars.com we focus only on fine dining and luxury hotels. So what is a fine dining restaurant or a luxury hotel you might ask? Our definition is: a full service restaurant or hotel, dedicated to service that treats you to a captivating experience, making you want to come back. We believe fine dining and luxury hotels are a passionate lifestyle. 

We cover the whole world. Each restaurant and hotel is compared and reviewed against other restaurants and hotels on the planet and not just the local competition in each specific region. Our inspectors dine and stay anonymously and make multiple visits per reviewed restaurant and hotel before the results are published. In addition,our highly experienced editorial team who visit the restaurant or hotel for the content is a part of the final score as well. And last but not least we are in contact with as many guests as possible - asking them on their opinion of the restaurant and hotel being reviewed. All in all this makes out for a final assessment that is published at wbpstars.com. The score descriptions are based upon seven different criteria which you can find in the right-hand column on this page.

The wbpstars.com’s ratings are frequently updated and provide an independent and frank opinion of each restaurant and hotel reviewed.

On our extensive travels around the world we are always looking for new restaurants and hotels to review. Please, do not hesitate to mail us if there are restaurants and hotels you think we should review.

Rating systems are always controversial, but we have decided to have a rating system to make it as easy as possible for you to see where to go to and what to avoid. An evening at a fine dining restaurant or luxury hotel can easily cost you 400 Euros per person so getting professional advice when deciding on a restaurant or hotel can save you from a costly and disappointing experience.

Rating System - restaurants

The score descriptions are based upon seven different criteria with a max score of 10 in each except for the taste/stay criteria where it is 40:

Taste (how does it taste, flavours, texture, quality of the ingredients?) – 0 - 40 points

Innovation (how innovative are the dishes?) – 0 - 10 points

Unique (how unique is the food or have we seen it many times before?) – 0 - 10 points   

Plate (how beautiful, interesting and creative are the dishes presented on the plate?) – 0 - 10 points

Service (how great is the service?) – 0 - 10 points

Value for money (how good is the overall impression compared to the price?) – 0 - 10 points

Sustainability
(how sustainable is the sourcing and use of food, wine, facilities, environmental impact and engagement with society) – 0 - 10 points


Rating System - hotels

The score descriptions are based upon eight different criteria with a max score of 10 in each except for the stay & service criteria, where it is 20:

Stay (how was the overall experience of the stay?) – 0 - 20 points

Service (how great is the service, 24 hours, guest attention, level of positive surprise?) – 0 - 20 points

Luxury & exclusiveness (how luxurious and exclusive is the hotel, the rooms, the restaurant…?) – 0 - 10 points

Design & architecture (how exclusive, cool, extravagant, clean, etcetera is it as a whole?) – 0 - 10 points


Room & cleanliness (how is the style and size of the rooms, are they clean?) – 0 - 10 points

Innovation (how innovative and unique is the hotel, have you seen something like this before? – 0 - 10 points

Value for money (how good is the overall impression compared to the price?) – 0 - 10 points

Facilities (which facilities does the hotel feature, such as a pool, spa, bar, restaurant…?) – 0 - 10 points



The total rating descriptions are:
0 – 9 points
10 – 19 points
20 – 29 points
30 – 39 point
40 – 49 points
50 – 59 points
60 – 69 points
70 – 79 points
80 – 89 points
90 – 95 points
96 – 100 points
