Schlosshotel Fiss – high
Schlosshotel Fiss is a unique family owned five star hotel in the town of Fiss in Austria. Fiss is located in the centre of the famous ski area of Serfaus – Fiss – Ladis, one of the biggest in Austria. At a height of 1,436 metres, Schlosshotel Fiss is a top destination for the lovers of winter sports and the biggest and the only ‘ski-in ski-out’ hotel in the area. The hotel even has its own ski-shop and ski storage for each hotel room. Indeed, in winter, it is all about winter sports here. However, this area is also a great summer destination, with plenty of activities to choose from, from hiking to mountain biking, from playing with the kids in the mountain family fun park, to paragliding.
The property was originally built in 1940 during the Second World War as a hunting lodge & guesthouse. In 1991, the Domenig family acquired it and in 2016 they celebrated 25 years of management. During that period, the family transformed the property into a luxurious five star hotel with a world-class spa. Many of the renovations (such as the new spa) were done in 2014 and 2015 so a big part of the hotel is brand new and modern. Schlosshotel Fiss is open nine months a year, with closing from mid-April until mid-June and in November, and during the closing months, new renovations are carried out each year.
Schlosshotel Fiss has a very unique and personal style that is described as ‘Contemporary aesthetic with Gemütlichkeit, classic comfort, elegance and individuality’. The interior and the rooms & suites of Schlosshotel Fiss are luxurious, comfortable and timeless. The hotel boasts 135 contemporary Alpine style rooms & suites, ranging from 32 up to 105 square metres. All of them have beautiful views on the surrounding mountains and a private terrace. Amenities included luxury bath products from Susanne Kaufmann, flat screen TV’s, fireplaces, Nespresso machines, and much more. There is also a big carpark under the hotel for all hotel guests.
The hotel is not only family owned, it also is clearly family oriented. All of the rooms are spacious, guaranteeing enough space and flexibility for bigger families. There is also a kids club, a family sauna, a waterpark, and even a kids cinema. When the kids are enjoying themselves, their parents can enjoy the other benefits of the property. And there are many.
Schlosshotel Fiss offers a range of activities and facilities, of which the spa/wellness area is the most striking one. It covers no less than 5,000 square metres and is divided into five areas.
The food and beverage policy is an essential part of the Schlosshotel Fiss experience. The main hotel restaurant is used for breakfast and dinner and can seat up to no less than 470 guests. That is remarkable, especially considering the level of quality that is offered here! For dinner, the talented Executive Chef Christoph Geschwendtner offers a changing tasting menu in four courses where he uses fresh products only, all cooked à la minute. The à la carte option is complemented with additional buffets with starters, desserts, salads and cheeses. For more information about the gourmet restaurant, please consult our separate review. Besides the main restaurant there is also a day restaurant where guests can enjoy a variety of dishes, salads, cheeses, charcuterie and desserts in the afternoon. Two times a week it also includes an outdoor barbecue buffet. Schlosshotel Fiss offers a half-board option to all guests, which is actually an extended full-board option, taking into account the day restaurant which is also included for all guests. This half-board program surely is one of the best and most qualitative ones in Europe making the property one of the top overall gourmet hotels in Austria.
Schlosshotel Fiss is a truly remarkable property in the Austrian Alps. From the stunning spa to the delicious fine-dining restaurant: every experience in this hotel is extraordinary. An inviting and elegant hotel where guests find harmony and joy, in winter and in summer.
