Art de vivre or art of living in English is a French expression that well fits to describe Chef Patron Bruno Oger’s new restaurant concept established in the centre of Le Cannet just ten minutes away from La Croisette in Cannes.

Bruno Oger was born in north-western France 1966 and has for many years been one of the most well-known chefs of France, over recent years most well-known for his commitment to the Cannes Film Festival where he has produced several official dinners and for his former top rated La Villa des Lys restaurant.

The Head Chef was only twelve years old when he decided to pursue his passion for cooking and become a chef and only 21 when he started to work for the legendary Georges Blanc at his restaurant in French Vonnas. Bruno Oger kept on working for Georges Blanc for several years, but 1995 he was recruited to the Majestic Barrière in Cannes and since then the Chef has stayed at Côte d’Azur.

La Bastide Bruno Oger is located in an impressive building complex from the 1800’s and is the chef’s new and impressive setting that is divided into three different concepts – the gourmet restaurant La Villa Archange, the brasserie Le Bistrot des Anges and the L’Ange Bar.

This review is only about the gourmet restaurant La Villa Archange that quickly has become one of the world’s best restaurants since its opening in May 2010 thanks to the shared view on nouvelle cuisine held by the dream team of La Bastide Bruno Oger.

The French food served is simply described in one word – awesome! Bruno Oger has for many years worked closely with super talented Pastry Chef Sylvain Mathy who also acts as the establishment’s Director and they have reinforced their top team with Executive Chef Nicolas Decherchi with a background from numerous top restaurants. The three chefs together offer a shared vision of cooking both for today and for the future, that few other chefs can match when it comes to the pure experience of flavours and texture of the food served.

Of course a restaurant can always be improved, but La Villa Archange certainly does almost everything right at present and gives a taste of not being anywhere close to slowing down so we may expect some of the best cuisine served in the world for many years to come.
