Le Normandie
Bangkok, Thailand
Le Normandie is one of the four restaurants in Bangkok holding two Michelin stars. It is located in the famous Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, an amazing luxury hotel which is conveniently located on the banks of the famous Chao Pray river in the centre of the city. For more than 140 years, discerning travellers have found their way to this stunning hotel. Style, service and excellence are the standard at the Mandarin Oriental, making it one of the world’s most iconic hotels.
When it comes to (fine) dining, the Mandarin Oriental delivers on several levels. Home to nine great restaurants and beautiful bars, it has become one of the city’s premier gourmet destinations. Restaurant Le Normandie is het flagship restaurant of the Mandarin Oriental. It is awarded with 2 Michelin Stars in the Michelin Guide Bangkok and received several other awards in the past. The restaurant is known for its classical French cuisine, served with a luxurious and contemporary twist.
The restaurant’s interior is warm and luxurious. Lush fabrics and carpets are combined with grey, brown and golden colours. The spacious tables offer stunning views on Bangkok and the Chao Pray River and dimmed lighting, crystal chandeliers and beautiful flowers set a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Service at the restaurant is comparable to that of the great French houses: professional, elegant and discrete.
In the kitchen, Chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier waves the culinary sceptre. Arnaud started to work in the kitchen of renowned French chef Marc Veyrat at the age of 14. Afterwards he gained experience at some of the best fine dining restaurants in France and worked with some of the French culinary icons like Guy Martin, Emile Jung, and Jean-Francois Piège.
Chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier brings the best of the French cuisine to Bangkok, combining luxurious ingredients with the richness of the French kitchen. His signature is a pure and precise kitchen, with powerful taste combinations, completed with subtle herby touches. The chef uses the best out of the sea and the best from land, like in his famous starter with Oscietra caviar with sea urchin and potato. Delicate and delicious. Other highlights from the menu include the hand dived scallops, completed with bergamot, radish and lime tree, or the roasted wagyu beef striploin with Brussels sprouts and bone marrow. Guests have the choice between an à la carte menu or a set lunch or dinner menu in 6 to 8 courses. Make sure to complete your meal with the great wine pairing or take some time to explore the extensive wine list.
Situated in the one of Bangkok’s most impressive hotels, the Mandarin Oriental, Le Normandie offers some of the city’s best French fine dining, combined with breath-taking views over the Chao Phraya River. The elegant and sophisticated surroundings set the tone for a memorable culinary journey composed by Chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier.
