Christopher Kostow started his culinary career early at the age of 14, but to become a chef has not always been the obvious career choice. Kostow has a philosophy degree from Hamilton College in Central New York, but he headed off to France after graduating, for a deeper understanding of gastronomy. His cooking today at Meadowood clearly shows his respect and understanding of the best French chefs since most of his techniques are coming from France. Today he offers a perfect combination of the best from California and France. It was the Chef Patron of Eleven Madison Park in New York, Daniel Humm, who taught Kostow to understand the importance of pure ingredients and also gave him new and inspiring views on cooking while Humm was the Chef at Campton Place Restaurant in San Francisco.
There are 44 seats in the warm dining room with views of nearby vineyards. You can also choose to sit inside the kitchen and have a Chef’s Counter Experience with a more extensive menu which can be ordered in the dining room as well. Director Nathaniel P. Dorn makes an outstanding job in the dining room and the Wine Director really understands Chef Kostow’s cuisine for perfect pairings.
The whole team at The Restaurant at Meadowood, together, creates what is a truly amazing restaurant. There are not enough superlatives to try to explain the talent and skills of Chef Kostow, but he and his team represent one of the most ultimate restaurants in the world.
