El Lago Restaurant was founded in the year 2000 and is located on a golf course in Marbella, Andalucía. The restaurant is situated in the club house of Greenlife Golf in the centre of the Elviria Hills development. The relaxing environment fits well both for a lighter lunch at the summer terrace or for a lavish dinner in the dining room.
Sharing a healthy lunch at the terrace facing the artificial lake in front of it is ideal for the golfers and works perfect for everyone else as well. The menu is changed for the evenings and a more elaborate and innovative cuisine is presented.
Director Paco García also is a partner of the restaurant and has been at the restaurant since day one. Paco selected the staff for the restaurant like Head Chef Diego del Rio who also has been with the restaurant since its opening.
There are only four restaurants from Andalucía which have been awarded the Km 0. The accolade goes to those restaurants which only use ingredients within a radius of 100 kilometres. To only use ingredients within that limit is difficult and also limits the menu selection, but is of course a gain for Mother Nature and for the local producers. We have received reports about Km 0 restaurants which cheat and use ingredients from longer distances, but luckily nothing about El Lago. The restaurant is also a participant in the Spanish Slow Food movement which seeks to defend gastronomic pleasure in search of food value to reflect on the quality of life. In other words – giving more importance to the pleasure connected to food.
Head Chef Diego del Rio has a strong focus on local and organic produce. Diego’s personal and inventive cooking together with the management of Director Paco García results in one of the best restaurants in Andalucia.
