One hours drive outside of Barcelona up in the mountain you will find a beautiful farmhouse with a fantastic view. Here chef Oriol Rovira and his team serve a cuisine dedicated to what grows on their own estate around them. The majority of their products comes from their own farm or other farms nearby. Their 200 acre farm grows everything from vegetables to breed their own poultry and make some of the best cold cuts from their own porc. They also source own truffles when in season.
So expect a menu that varies according to season and a cooking with homage to the product. The restaurant is in a farmhouse on their estate. It also contains a hotel where you can spend the night and then also walk in the beautiful countryside and visit their farm and get a feeling of the respect of produce. The Food
Els Casals offers dishes with that focus on a “cuisine from the land”. The majority of products come from the own or nearby farms (vegetable and fruit products, eggs, milk and derivative products, poultry, pork, mushrooms, truffles, etc). This means the dishes are highly dependent on the seasonality of the product, which is always treated with the biggest respect so that they can be enjoyed in the best conditions. An iconic dish is their excellent sobrassada with tomato and honey from the farm. So simple and so delicious.
The Experience
Rustic, pleasent, simple but above all delicious. Els Casals is a unique gastronomic experience and recommend for everybody. The best of all: they also sell their amazing Sobrassada own farm, so you can buy and bring some home and prolong the aftertaste of an excellent meal. The dining room is run by Carolina Calvo Serra (Oriol’s partner). She has created an atmosphere of friendly, homely and professional service.
