The original Il Mulino restaurant was opened in Greenwich Village in 1981. The restaurant soon became one of the hot spots in New York and the founding Chefs Fernando and Gino Masci became famous as some of the best in the region on classic Italian cuisine. A lot has happened since the 1980’s and today the brothers have sold their restaurant and concept, and you can find several outlets around the United States as well as in Las Vegas.
Chefs Fernando and Gino Masci brought the traditional Italian fine food and hospitality to Manhattan and created a restaurant to love for its warmth and cuisine. The two brothers were born and raised in L’Aquila in the Abruzzo region. The regional cuisine is well-known for its rustic and simple blend of the freshest possible local ingredients. The accessibility of amazing produce of lamb, fish and cured meat all prepared and presented in a delightful way was something the two brothers liked to bring to the United States, and that was exactly what they did. After two widespread culinary careers in Europe and in Canada, the two brothers settled down in New York in the 1970’s before they opened their Il Mulino in 1981. The restaurant was opened in Greenwich Village and the Masci brothers liked to bring the best from their home country which they succeeded to do.
You will not find the Masci brothers or anyone from the New York team standing over the stove in the Il Mulino New York in the Forum Shops mall at Caesars Palace Las Vegas Hotel & Casino. The Nevada restaurant’s dining room is much bigger than the original on Manhattan, but you will still immediately feel like you have entered Italian territory, even if it is on an American sized scale. Plenty of seats and you can enjoy both lunch and dinner. The lunches are normally much calmer than the evenings, and you will almost feel lonely in the big dining room at lunch since it is normally not fully booked then. But no worries about the cuisine and service which are just as good no matter when you arrive. The dishes are big, huge if you are from Europe, so an arrival on empty stomach and in the mood for a full night out is recommended. You can really have a great meal at Il Mulino New York and General Manager Patrick Littlejohn knows hospitality inside out so he and his team will treat you like royalties.
You do not come to Il Mulino to have technically perfected dishes made of a world famous chef, no, you have a meal at the restaurant to enjoy yourself and your company without any hassle. You will have a relaxed time at Il Mulino with some pleasant food and great service and for most of us that is enough.
