With a location next to Burj Kalifa and the Dubai Fountains, one could expect that you need to visit Krasota in Dubai for the amazing views from within the restaurant. Well, in some way that might also be the case. But the mesmerizing views that you will remember long after your visit, are this time not the incredibly stunning highlights of the Dubai skyline, but the projections on the walls of the round dining room in this immersive dining theatre. A bustling city as Dubai boasts all the newest and most creative dining concepts. As such it should not surprise that also a holistic gastro-theatre experience can be found there. Krasota is the brainchild of the team behind the famous Russian restaurant The White Rabbit. After creating Krasota successfully in Moscow, they exported the concept to the unique desert state.
Concept & location
The restaurant can be found at the ground floor of the ADDRESS Downtown hotel in Dubai. Once you make your way to the lobby and keep right, you will notice a large wooden door with the logo of Krasoto on top of it. Upon walking in, you arrive in a stunning welcome area where you cannot avoid to notice that pink might be one of the favorite colors of the interior design team that created the room. Arriving guests are accompanied to a table and are served Champagne and some welcome snacks.
Immediately you notice that there is some kind of unique atmosphere in the room. This feeling is emphasized by the impressive way the staff is dressed.
Once all the guests have arrived and everybody enjoyed the welcome snacks, the group is brought to the place where the real dinner will take place. You walk into a dimly lit room with a large circular dark grey table where the twenty guests will be seated around. The names of all the guests are projected on the table which makes it easy to figure out which seat is meant for you. The seats can swivel. Something which will come very much in handy once the show starts because you want to be able to look around in the room in a convenient manner at all times. The entire dining experience will take about two hours. The concept of the show changes regularly. During our visit the theme brought popular artworks to life.
The masterminds behind Krasota are Russian Chef Vladimir Mukhin, film director and co-owner Anton Nenashev and businessman, restaurateur and founder of the White Rabbit Family management company Boris Zarkov. We presume it was no coincidence that most of the artworks which were part of the show were created by famous Russian or Russian born painters such as Aleksandr Deyneka, Mikhail Vrubel and Nicholas Roerich among others. Moving versions of their artworks were projected in a mesmerizing way on all the walls surrounding the guests, creating a very unique experience.
Also on the dining table scenes are projected and these are even interactive. At a certain moment, small yellow balls were visible on the table, which could be moved around by gentle gestures of hands of the diners at the table. With every dish, the entire room feels completely transformed. Dishes are brought to the table by a large team of waiters, that are dressed in unique clothes that match the theme of the artwork that is being projected. The waiter which took care of us for the evening, did effort to explain the artwork which was being projected and to clarify what the connection was between the artwork and the culinary creation on the plate.
Krasota Dubai can be found in the ADDRESS Downtown hotel in Dubai, near the world’s tallest tower Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Mall and the Dubai Fountains and is approximately fifteen to twenty minutes away from Dubai International Airport.
The Chef & the team
The chef of Krasota is Vladimir Mukhin. He rose to fame with The White Rabbit in Moscow, considered to be one of the best restaurants in the world. Mukhin is a fifth generation chef and got in touch with gastronomy at a very young age in the restaurant where his father worked. Later he would gain experience in the kitchens of famous chefs such as Christian Etienne in France and the Roca brothers of El Celler de Can Roca in Spain. Mukhin is the brand chef of the White Rabbit Family and he is overseeing the kitchens of all the restaurants in the group. His cooking style can best be described as contemporary Russian cuisine. During our visit, Mukhin was not in the restaurant. He was represented by a team of young and driven chefs, trained perfectly to meticulously recreate the unique dishes conceived by Vladimir.
Gastronomy
Taking into account all the attention that goes to the holistic aspects of a dining experience in Krasota, one could fear that gastronomic aspects are less taken care of. Think again. Mukhin and his team are not omitting any effort to present every dish in a unique and surprising way.
The food that comes on the table can be considered as true culinary artistry. The dishes are very contemporary and a lot of attention goes to the look and feel of what comes on the plate. There is also a very strong connection between what is happening on the plate and what is projected on the walls.
Some of the dishes we tried :
Service & Wine
The service in Krasota is perfectly orchestrated. Once a new dish is brought to the table, the team of waiters walks into the room in a stunning choreography. The special costumes they wear only make the experience to be even more unique. Apart from the show aspects is the service also absolutely flawless. The waiters are very helpful and explain the dishes and how you should eat them. Trust us, it is not always that obvious with the unique cooking and plating style of Chef Mukhin. Wines were paired with the dishes and worked very well.
Why go?
Who likes holistic, immersive dining experiences should not doubt : Krasota should be on your to do list. Especially guests that have never visited a restaurant concept as Krasota will be blown away from the moment they walk in. The special atmosphere created by the staff, the unique costumes and the impressive projections on the walls and the table create a great experience. This combined with the amazing food of Chef Mukhin, makes Krasota a destination within the fabulous destination Dubai.
