Saipin Chutima is the Chef and owner and runs the restaurant together with her husband Suchay, their two daughters and their two adoptive sons. Saipin was only 17 years old when she met her husband and he was 17 as well when they met at Suchay’s grandmother’s restaurant. Together they share an exciting story which has resulted in one of the best Thai restaurants in the world. Most Thai women have to learn how to cook at young age and Saipin was no exception when she was taught by her grandmother Tha how to cook Thai cuisine when she was only five years old. Initially, Saipin was not interesting in working in any kitchen, but later on her husband’s grandmother accepted her apprenticeship and Chef Chutima started to like cooking for people more and more. Life has not always been easy to the Chutima family. Suchay had to leave Thailand for the United States which forced him and his wife to live apart for seven years before they were reunited in California. In 1994 they opened their own Thai cuisine restaurant in Norwalk, California, called Renu Nakorn, which soon became a success. In Thailand the women usually are the chefs so when Saipin saw a greater potential in Las Vegas she sold Renu Nakorn for the opening of Lotus of Siam.
Chef Saipin Chutima is specialized in northern Thai cuisine which she cooks amongst the very best in the world, but you can order in food with origin from all over Thailand as well. New dishes are created on a regular basis so do not expect the same over and over again which might be the case at some lesser fine Thai restaurants.
