The drive to restaurant Waterkloof is an experience on its own. The small pass of the Schapenberg will lead you to the top with amazing views overlooking the ocean, the vineyards of the estate and the coastal town Strand. Waterkloof Estate Somerset West is one of South Africa’s most beautiful wine estates. The view from the winery is just stunning. Located in the valley the farm offers phenomenal views over the whole area and the diverse nature in it.
Once upstairs guests will be surprised by the modern and stylish design. The entrance through big glass sliding doors emphasizes the spacious comfort this place has to offer. This modern space features spectacular vistas, Waterkloof Wine Estate’s is gorgeously appointed in a glass promontory. Earthy colours, modern paintings, a cosy fireplace and spacious table seating give the restaurant its special look & feel. Each of all tables in the Waterkloof restaurant offers the best view, whether you look at the valley, the mountains or the ocean on the coastline of False Bay, Somerset West.
Just as impressive as the surrounding nature, is the tasting menu at Waterkloof. Within the estate Chef Gregory Czarnecki sets the tone with a contemporary cooking style complemented by the wine pairing by the estate’s elegant wines. After having worked for several star restaurants in Paris, Czarnecki arrived in South Africa.
The restaurant has an open kitchen counter from which the chef and team serve exquisite tasting menus. From a classical cuisine as base they give it a modern French twist. Always with an emphasis on using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, such as free-range eggs and a variety of common and rare herbs and vegetables from the area. The presentation is always beautiful and refined. Like the combination of Mauritius Seabass with leek ash, watercress on a base of pommes boulangères or snails that are served with spinach cream, mint and blue cheese.
The Restaurant at Waterkloof was awarded the coveted title of Best Restaurant in South Africa by Eat Out Guide during the 2018 Eat Out Awards.
