Turkish Airlines is taking Turkish hospitality to higher levels – literally. With their business class offer, the airline ensures that the journey is part of your holiday. What to expect? A highly pleasurable experience, with spacious, comfortable seating (full-flat beds on long-haul flights), outstanding and award-winning food (don’t miss the Turkish signature dishes!), a great in-flight entertainment system, and excellent service with the typical Turkish flair.
Turkish Airlines has greatly increased its offer and flies to more than 272 destinations today. Most of the flights include a stopover at the beautiful Istanbul airport, and for longer stopovers there’s even a special program for a city visit with free hotel stays. Fly different, fly Turkish!
Turkish Airlines Business Class
The Turkish Airlines Business Class offer is rapidly gaining recognition within the travel industry. Not only is the airline quickly increasing the quality and variety of their Business Class offer, it also offers more and more routes with Business Class seating available. In this article, we’re pleased to tell you more about our experience with this great airline.
Business Class Seats
We flew with Turkish Airlines on our trip from Brussels to Malé with a stopover at Istanbul Airport. The first leg of the trip (from Brussels to Istanbul, around 3 hours) we flew in the smaller 321 plane (old type), the second leg (from Istanbul to Malé, around 8 hours) in their bigger 330-300 Airbus. The 321 plane offers a 2 x 2 Business Class configuration, with comfortable, leather seats, a small leg support, and lumbar control. The seats can’t fully recline, but they do offer plenty of leg space. While you could say this is a somewhat older Business Class product, it offers all necessary comfort for short-haul flights. The second leg of trip (pictured in this article) took place in the bigger 330-300 Airbus. This plane type offers 28 lie-flat seats in Business Class, arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration. Seats measure 21 inches, offering plenty of space for dining, relaxing and sleeping.
They are impressively long, around two meters, with a big storage area in the front part of the seat. The seats can be converted into fully lie-fled beds and the flight attendants are more than happy to make you a comfortable bed when you want to have some sleep.
Hackett London amenity kits feature Qiriness body cream, body mist and lip balm; a dental kit; disposable socks, a great eye mask, and earplugs. Qualitative slippers and a great Denon noise-cancelling headphone are provided as well.
Award Winning Meals
Meals were delicious on both of our flights. On the first leg, we particularly enjoyed the superbly seasoned Sea bass “en papillot” with a julienne of vegetables. The freshly baked bread service, personally served by one of the flight attendants, is a very nice touch, too.
On the second leg of our trip, we opted for a smoked salmon and celeriac salad. It was served with fresh lemon, a salad, freshly baked bread, butter, cheese , olive oil and pepper and salt. A chocolate mousse was the perfect dessert before our nap. While there certainly is room for improvement for the wine list, we did enjoy a glass of Champagne (served after take-off) and their wellness tea selections. Service on board is professional, attentive and with “a touch of Turkish flair”.
The perfect picture, sound, and silence
Turkish Airlines uses the “Planet inflight entertainment system”, which offers new and classic movies, thousands of songs, special programs for kids, and internet connection. On our long-haul flight, the 777 plane featured very good, large television screens which can be controlled with a wired remote in your seat. The entertainment system worked surprisingly fast and offered a variety of new releases, blockbusters and Turkish films. They include IMDB ratings, too, a very convenient feature high up in the air. The noise-reducing Denon headphones offered the perfect sound for our in-flight movie or music experiences.
What’s quite amazing is that Business class passengers enjoy complimentary wifi, with a 1 gigabyte data cap. Perfect to get some work done high up in the sky! Elite members in the Miles & Smiles program seated in Business Class can enjoy unlimited data.
