Gianni Brunelli is one of the best wineries of Montalcino. It Is known for its outstanding quality and excellent wines. The winery produces a Rosso di Montalcino, a Brunello di Montalcino, in the best years a Brunello di Montalcino Riserva and two IGT wines, Toscano Rosso and Amor Constante (Merlot/Sangiovese). They only have 5,5 hectares of vineyard which make these wines even more exclusive. Next to wine they also sell grappa and olive oil.
In 1987, Gianni Brunelli made his family dream came true: he bought back the old property of his father “Le Chiuse di Sotto”. This vineyard is located in the northeast of Montalcino. In 1997 Gianni and his wife Laura bought Podernovone. The estate is located in the south of Montalcino and is made up of four vineyards. In 2008 Gianni passed away and Laura took over the technical and administrative aspects of the winery.
The meticulous work in the vineyard offers absolute quality of the Gianni Brunelli wines. The healthy, well ripened grapes are manually harvested at the right moment and are carefully vinified. So, it’s natural to get good wines with balanced structure and generous aromas.

On every label of the Gianni Brunelli wines, you find the artwork called “Elvira with a hat”. It’s created by Richard M. Goodwin. He’s a frequent guest at Osteria Le Logge and a good friend of Gianni and Laura. Richard admired Elvira, Gianni’s mother, who at that time was responsible for the kitchen at Osteria Le Logge. Even today, “Elvira with a hat” is hanging at the entrance of the Osteria Le Logge.
Osteria le Logge
Gianni and his wife Laura Brunelli had a deep love towards wine and food and so they opened Osteria Le Logge. The restaurant is just a footstep away from the famous Piazza del Campo in Siena. It’s located in a narrow medieval street from the main piazza and the atmosphere is very romantic.
At Osteria Le Logge you can enjoy pure and local food with vegetables harvested in their own private garden just outside of Siena. Next to this they have an amazing ‘secret’ wine cellar underneath the city of Siena with more than 7000 bottles of the highest quality, preserved like jewels.
Mirco and his team will welcome you with open arms and will give you a culinary experience you will never forget.
A special thank you to Licata Vini for organizing this wonderful experience and to Laura Brunelli and Mirco for their warm welcome.
