JUMEIRAH Burj Al Arab
The Jumeirah Burj Al Arab is one of the most iconic hotels in the world and a real epitome of luxury. The 321 m high building is an architectural marvel that has put Dubai on the world map. The all-suite hotel in the shape of a sail ship redefined all levels of luxury throughout the years. The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island, 280m from the beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. Access is only provided through the guard-monitored bridge or the helipad near the roof which is installed at a height of 210m above ground.
Burj Al Arab Jumeirah translates to ‘the tower of Arabs’ and the shape of the structure is designed to resemble the sail of a ship. A hotel that reflects the emirate’s past and its future as well as its ambition to become one of the most culturally diverse and dynamic cities in the world. Since its opening the Burj Al Arab redefined the meaning of luxury hospitality in the world. Approximately 1,790sqm of -24carat gold leaf was used to embellish the interior. More than 30 different types of Statuario marble have been used in the walls and flooring throughout the hotel, covering nearly 24,000sqm. The Terrace’s steel structure weighs approximately 3,000 tonnes, about half the weight of the Eiffel Tower and an astounding 10 million mosaic tiles in shades of azure and gold line the two pools at The Terrace. The hotel has the world’s tallest atrium, which ascends over 180m and is flanked by imposing golden columns. An abundance of warm, natural light beams down through the atrium, which has a beautiful fountain at its base.
