In the dunes of the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve lies the Al-Maha Resort. Offering high end luxury in a Bedouin styled environment, it is a welcome escape from the glass and steel found in busy downtown Dubai.
At Al-Maha, guests can stay overnight in four different types of suites. All have their own private swimming pool and are more than spacious enough. The most luxurious one is the President Suite which can house up to six people in three separate bedrooms.
The resort’s restaurant, Al Diwaan, is one of Dubai’s better dining venues and offers plenty of choice, ranging from halal food to five different types of caviar. When the terrace of this restaurant is not enough, guests can always choose for a candle light dinner on the dunes in front of the resort or for a private dinner on the deck of their suite.
To avoid the blistering desert heat, the activities at Al Maha are usually organised in the early morning or late afternoon. There are plenty of options to choose from, such as 4×4 driving, falconry and camel trekking or one can simply stay inside and enjoy the spa menu.
Staying at the Al-Maha resort provides a different and welcome face to Dubai’s popular image. It is a well-hidden escape into an oasis of luxury.
