You will immediately have a certain setup of associations when you hear the word steakhouse, especially if you are an American. You expect something which you have come to be used to and you will have all that at Alexander’s Steakhouse, but you will also have so much more in addition. No, Alexander’s Steakhouse is not the ordinary; it is something extraordinary and a fantastic experience for everyone, not just meat lovers.
You will initially get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of all the selections and options you have on the menu, but after some reading and assistance by anybody of the competent waiters (yes, they are all very well informed, indeed) it will all make sense even if you are a complete novice when it comes to steakhouses. You will soon notice that the fare is not 100 percent American since there are several Japanese touches spread all over the menu.
You might think that all the Wagyu beef comes from Japan, but it does not. There are all thinkable cuts and sorts of meat at Alexander’s, but the best Wagyu beef comes from the Australian Sher family. The highly marbled Sher Wagyu beef is something all meat lovers must try. Both Fullblood and F1 Wagyu are produced and when it arrives to the restaurant it ends up in Alexander’s dry-aging room and can stay there for 28 days for flavours hard to find anywhere else. Of course there is a lot of American meat as well like the certified Angus Beef which is corn fed from the American Midwest. We can easily write a bigger book just about the meat offered at Alexander’s Steakhouse, but also simply note that you will have some of the best on this planet, period.
There are presently two Alexander’s Steakhouse and this review is only about the original one opened in 2005 in Cupertino, Silicon Valley, just next to the headquarter of Apple Computer. There is another great Alexander’s Steakhouse in San Francisco as well, but our favorite is the establishment in Cupertino.
There is a lot more to write about Alexander’s Steakhouse that is way more than just a steakhouse, with dedicated staff for tea and coffee selections and wine pairings far from the ordinary, by super talented Wine Director Maxwell Klassen just to mention one.
Alexander’s Steakhouse is something for everyone to experience and not just for the meat lovers only. Make a reservation and make it now.
