You will be fooled if you think that The Village Pub is just like any other ordinary pub. Of course you can order in standard pub food like a burger, but you will soon notice that a lot is different with this place. How about order in a sautéed Monterey abalone with cauliflower mousseline, soft poached egg and truffle cream or why not some white sturgeon caviar with buckwheat blinis?
To call The Village Pub a “gastropub” is to go the easy way, since this restaurant can offer you a true gourmet experience very few other places like this come near to. The bistro presence is distinct, but the service given is something out of the ordinary like when Sommelier Michael Acheson offers you more than 80 years old Madeira wine like it was the standard wine pairing at any pub. The warmth and the lovely ambience inside the dining room is constantly present and goes all the way into the kitchen where Executive Chef Dmitry Elperin helms.
Chef Elperin has his origin in Minsk in Belarus and he started to cook with his family at a very young age. His family moved to Madison, Wisconsin, when Dmitry was only nine. He was barely a teenager when he had his first job in a restaurant kitchen. The career of Chef Elperin took off in Washington D.C. at Red Sage and continued to California to restaurants like the French Sans Souci and the Asian fusion Hawthorne Lane. Executive Chef Dmitry Elperin has worked at several of the best restaurants in San Francisco like One Market Restaurant, Aqua and Campton Place. 2007 was the year when Dmitry started at The Village Pub.
The seasonal menu is crafted by Chef Elperin and a lot is based upon a close partnership with an organic farm called SMIP Ranch where most of the vegetables and herbs are coming from. The menu is changed very often and depends on what kind of ingredients that are delivered each morning. Everyone will be satisfied at The Village Pub since there is something on the menu for all, like the braised veal with vegetable jardinière and sauce blanquette or the sautéed Atlantic cod with green garlic, clams and saffron sabayon.
Hospitality is the word that will pop up in your mind when you visit The Village Pub. The staff will literally do everything to make you happy and the team in the dining room is impeccably led by General Manager Andy O’Day.
The Village Pub in Silicon Valley is synonymous with joy. It is a place to return to over and over again and you will always leave the restaurant with a big smile.
