Canaves Oia is a luxurious boutique resort group located in Oia on the famous island of Santorini, Greece. Santorini is one of the most spectacular islands in Greece – if not Europe – and is located about a 45 minutes flight from the country’s capital Athens. There are also many direct flights from all over the world to this wonderful island, famous for its white houses and blue chapels, perched dramatically on the island’s cliffs. The island got its unique shape because of a volcanic eruption, which created a large crater (or caldera in Greek). The combination of the picturesque, white and blue coloured towns, set on the cliffs above the ocean, with the remaining of the crater and the blue ocean, made Santorini famous as one of the most romantic destinations in Europe.

In the village of Oia, located on the northwestern tip of the island, Canaves Oia enjoys one of the best locations of the entire island. The property was founded in 1985 when the Chaidemenos family transformed two 17th-century caves, formally used to store wine, into luxurious hotel rooms. Expansion of the hotel followed quickly, and the two rooms became eighteen in just a matter of time. Canaves Oia Hotel gained a reputation and became an iconic destination for couples seeking for the ultimate romantic getaway. The second hotel, Canaves Oia Suites, opened its doors in 1995. Canaves Oia Suites is one of the most luxurious properties of the Canaves Oia group and is known for having one of the best locations on the island. The property was renovated entirely in 2006 and offers luxury suites with all modern facilities, all with private (plunge) pools. From every room and every public area in the hotel, the views are simply mesmerising. Canaves Oia Suites blends perfectly in its environment with its whitewashed walls and soft colours. The design is minimalistic, but warm with a romantic look & feel and traditional Cycladic artistic elements. Suites and Villas

Canaves Oia Suites features 24 suites with stunning views on the ocean, the caldera and the town of Oia. All of them have indoor and outdoor areas and outdoor tubs, Jacuzzis or pools. Several new suites are in the making. Currently, guests have the option between:

• The Junior Suites offer an outdoor Plunge Pool and are designed in a modern and stylish way. They are luxurious and offer 35 square meters of space.
• Superior Suites with Plunge pool measure 45 square meter and offer more space and luxury
• The Honeymoon Suites with Plunge Pool also measure 45 square meter but offer more privacy and romantic touches, making them ideal for a romantic trip.
• The River Pool Suite measures 50 square meters and includes the unique experience of the outdoor River plunge Jacuzzi.
• The Grande Suite offers space for up to five guests, with 55 square meters, and boasts a Plunge Pool as well.
• The Infinity Pool Suite is the choice for those looking for a bigger pool, with a private infinity- edge pool with panoramic views to the Aegean Sea and the Caldera.
• The Canaves Suite measures 60 square meter, offering plenty of space and a private pool as well.
• The Presidential Suite also offers 60 square meter and adds unparalleled luxury combined with breath-taking views to the Aegean Sea and the fascinating caldera.
• The Executive Suite is the only suite with a cave pool, one of Santorini’s most famous assets.
• The new Pool Suites, measuring 45 square meter, offer a private, infinity- edge pool combined with charming luxury.

All of the rooms are very light and combine white, bright colours with blue accents. They have sitting and sleeping areas and some offer private dining areas, too. The bathrooms are luxurious and the in-room amenities are from famous renowned wellness and perfume brands. The combination of these luxurious rooms with the never-ending breath-taking views make Canaves Oia Suites one of the most romantic hotels we have ever visited.

Canaves Oia Suites was renovated in 2017 and several new hotel assets were added during the renovation. Today, the hotel counts two swimming pools. One main pool with a sun lounging area that offers great views on the caldera from the sun loungers, and one infinity pool with built-in sun loungers that offers truly amazing views from the pool itself.

The property also boasts a small but intimate spa located in the former wine cave. There are two treatment rooms and several high-end treatments are available à la carte.

For those looking to do some sports, there is a small gym near to the spa as well.

With Petra Restaurant, Canaves Oia Suites boasts one of the best fine dining restaurants on the island of Santorini. Petra Restaurant is managed by Greek Executive Chef Tasilo Stefatos and Chef Vassilis Roussos and offers possibilities for all day dining, from Champagne breakfasts to multi-course dinners at sunset. Between breakfast, lunch and dinner, guests can order snacks, cocktails and wines at Petra Restaurant. A very special and romantic experience is the Panorama Balcony Experience, a private dinner table for couples in the most spectacular setting. Totally private and intimate, this area offers majestic views and can host weddings and private events as well.

In the famous Wine Cellar of Canaves Oia Suites, guests can indulge in a Wine tasting experience with delicious local wines from indigenous grape varieties. The Cellar specializes in elegant, high quality Santorini wines but also offers a broad selection of great value wines.

For those that do not want to leave the intimacy of their suites, the hotel also offers in-room dining. Romantic tables are set up on the private balcony and the experience even includes a private waiter. Breakfasts with a view are an understatement at Canaves Oia Suites!
