The resort
Nizuc Resort & Spa is one of Mexico’s most exclusive resorts, located at a premium location in Cancun. The resort opened its doors in 2013 and is conveniently located just ten minutes away from Cancun’s international airport. One will discover the property on the secluded and pristine area of Punta Nizuc, formerly a Mayan astronomical station and later a private Mexican presidential retreat. The exclusive 29-acre reserve is a unique tropical getaway nestled between the Nichupté Lagoon and the Caribbean Ocean. The resort overlooks the great Mesoamerican Barrier Reef and features two white sand beaches and a mangrove-lined canal. This exclusive location makes Nizuc Resort & Spa one of the best choices for those seeking for a luxurious, tranquil and relaxing beach holiday.
In this stunning setting, amidst nature, the ocean and the coastline, the hotel and its 274 suites are strategically spread out throughout the area. The famous architects Jean Michael Gathy and Alejandro Escudero were responsible for the design and the architecture and created a resort that is one with nature. Open, breezy spaces that offer stunning views on the surroundings optimize harmony between the land and the sea.
The design of the communal spaces and the rooms is modern, sleek, and a unique mix of Asian and Mexican influences. Lots of wood bring nature inside and warm, dark colours and intelligent interior details create a cosy, timeless atmosphere. What really impresses is the height from all of the rooms and especially the communal spaces. Most of them are at least two stories high, giving the ensemble a temple-like feeling.
Suites & Villa’s
Nizuc Resort & Spa boasts 274 suites and villas but the resort never feels crowded and every space invites to relax. The rooms are an example of timeless warm design and all of them are beautiful and luxurious. Amenities include air-conditioning, Nespresso coffee machines, flat-screen TVs, beautiful bathrooms with bath tubs and/or rain showers, outdoor verandas, and much more.
The ocean suites have breath-taking frontal views on the mighty ocean. They boast king-size beds, freestanding bath tubs and spacious terraces. Ocean View Junior Suites have an infinity-edge plunge pool on the terrace, and Garden Suites have a balcony with mangrove views. For honeymooners or those looking for extra privacy, a pool villa with outdoor garden with waterfall, private pool and outdoor shower is the obvious choice.
Gastronomy
Quality is the standard here and that is also translated to the restaurants. Chef Sylvain Desbois is responsible for the kitchens of Nizuc Resort & Spa. The chef gained experience in some of the best restaurants in France and uses this experience to please the guests of Nizuc today. Sylvain and his skilled team of chefs combine a classic cooking base with new flavours, fine ingredients and modern techniques, and together they serve delicious dishes in no less than six restaurants:
At Ramona, Mexican cuisine is contemporary interpreted and served in a stunning setting overlooking the beach. The young and driven Mexican chef Eduardo Torres masters the authentic techniques and flavours of his country’s kitchen and combines them with French influences. We particularly enjoyed a starter with baked foie gras, combined with crunchy Mexican grasshoppers and mole sauce.
Indochine restaurant is located next to a beautiful garden with ponds and green, and serves a modern, delicious Asian cuisine. Lady chef Alicia Patankar is married to an Indian and combines Japanese, Indian and other Asian flavours and techniques in her dishes. She has an eye for detail and that is demonstrated in the dishes such as the Tuna Tataki or the delicious black cod with miso sauce. Alicia clearly is a very talented, punctual and elegant chef and we are sure she as a promising future ahead of her.
Terra Nostra is the place for the Italian food lovers, with homemade pastas and wood-oven specialties.
Peruvian food is on the menu at NI, where seafood steals the show. Cafe de la Playa is an excellent spot for brunch, with pastries, fresh juices, egg preparations and tacos on offer.
For perfectly grilled fish and meat – all served with great views on the ocean – head to La Punta Grill & Lounge. A restaurant with a mesmerising seaside location and a beautiful, atmospheric wooden interior.Bar A-Kan and Terra Nostra Lounge are the beautiful bars of the resort, both offering cocktails and quality drinks, live music, and stunning views on the ocean or the mangroves. The Havana Lounge is the perfect way to end a sun-kissed day with a fine cigar lounge and a glass of high quality Caribbean rum. Staff at the restaurants, the bars and all other spaces are highly professional, very friendly and discrete. When they meet a guest, they always place a hand on their heart as a sign of respect. Beautiful!
