Strand Hotel Swakopmund is a luxurious beachside hotel located in the city of Swakopmund in Namibia. Squeezed between the Ocean and the Namib Desert, it is one of the most important traveller stops along the Namibian road. Swakopmund is famous as Namibia’s adventure capital and the best hop off point for excursions to the Skeleton Coast and the Namib Desert. However, the city is a destination in its own right, too. Recommended Activities: Scenic Flight In Swakopmund
Swakopmund is Namibia’s adventure capital. You really can’t leave the town without exploring the nearby coast, the spectacular dune landscape, the seal colonies or many other wonders of nature. From sandboarding the highest dunes in the world to quad-biking between dunes and the sea, Swakopmund has something in store for everybody.
One of the best ways to get a good view on the amazing landscape surrounding Swakopmund, is by “simply” flying over it. Scenic flights in small (semi-)private planes are very popular and there are few landscapes in the world that can rival that of the Namib desert (which borders Swakopmund).
We enjoyed a flight in a 4-seater plane with Pleasure Flights, one of the most reliable companies in the town. Pilots are of course 100% certificated, well trained and fluently English speaking.
The most popular flight is the Sossusvlei Scenic Flight, which takes you over the Namib desert, the dry Kuiseb river bed, the magnificent dune formations, the famous Sossusvlei, and the “Forbidden Coast” where you will discover shipwrecks, seal colonies and flocks of flamingos. A great experience!
